Here is a note I drafted the day after we lost "Little Kitty": Our family is still reeling from the most unexpected loss. Our ever-so-special Rhapsody, a.k.a. Little Kitty – pronounced “Littl’ Keedy” (my teenage son’s “baby”) died suddenly yesterday with no warning. She had been in perfect health, was due to give birth in a few days, and had shown no indication of illness, slowing down, or any other warnings that anything was wrong. I had just barely made it in to work when my mother-in-law found her, called me, I rushed home and rushed Little Kitty to the doctor, they tried to save her and her 2 gorgeous babies (as they were full term), but it just wasn’t meant to be. Wow… and those babies were picture-perfect gorgeous too! It was almost like they were too perfect to be here. The initial results from the autopsy shows that she was in perfect health and no indication of heart problems or any other type of internal problems. Thus far everything considered as possible cause has been ruled out, and we have absolutely *no* idea what happened. Now, we just have to accept the unanswered questions, and relish in her memories. She was such a sweetie, had the most amazing baby-sweet "I love you forever" meow, and she had a way of charming us like no one can imagine. I cried almost non-stop yesterday, and I have choked back tears countless times already today @ work. It was so shocking and devastating for my kids, and as a mom I hurt for them, for their loss! I know that saying “my cat died…” sounds shallow to many folks, but they just don’t understand! To us she was a family member, she contributed so much to us with love, emotional therapy, and she will be missed ever so much! |
