After a freezing rain morphed into an ugly snow storm, my typical 15-minute commute from work on Wednesday evening (Jan. 9, 2007) stretched into a 4-hour nightmare. As I drove down the steepest hill in the area I realized it was beyond a doubt the scariest 1-block stretch of ice I've ever experienced. As I pulled into my driveway (after 11:00PM) I was thanking God that I had made it home in one piece. The next morning I awoke in sheer amazement to see that there were no clouds in the sky. How cool! How glorious! But then... I saw a bizarre, strange brightness outside. As I carefully evaluated the situation, I realized that there was “this round glowing blobby-thingy” outside that was emitting a powerful energy. Wow! I was stunned! I eagerly awakened the kids so they could see this weird freak of nature, a true phenomenon transpiring outside, before my very eyes. What was it? you ask. Ahh, it was a rare sighting of what local scientists now believe is known in most regions of the world as “the sun”. Yes. Really! The SUN! O-M-G! That’s right! I can’t believe it… a real, honest to goodness sun to awaken to! Inconceivable! And here I was convinced the mythical “glowing blobby-thingy” was part of a whacky, jaded, taunting fantasy! Here are some pictures of our place illuminated by the shining “glowing blobby-thingy” (is it safe to call it “the sun”?). I think the photos help confirm our suspicions that the sun, in fact, did make a cameo appearance to our part of the world... What do you think?????
